Luis Quan

Luis Quan is deeply committed to ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education in a rigorous and culturally responsive environment. For the past 24 years, he has devoted his career to advancing educational equity, with a particular focus on bilingual learners and their families.

​

A graduate of Yale University (2000), Luis began his career in the New York City Department of Education as a bilingual teacher through Teach for America. He earned his Master of Science degree from Pace University in 2003 and completed Bank Street College’s Teacher Leader Academy in 2007, later serving as an instructional coach and school leader.

 

After earning his M.A. in School Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University’s Summer Principals Academy in 2010, Luis was appointed Director of Multilingual Learners and Family Engagement for Districts 6 and 11, supporting a network of 35 schools. In this role, he built the capacity of principals, MLL teacher leaders, and parent coordinators through coaching and systems-level leadership.

 

From 2015 to 2017, he served as MLL Administrator for the Bronx Field Support Center, where he led instructional improvement efforts across District 9 schools. He then became Assistant Principal at P.S. 73X and, since 2020, has proudly served as Principal of P.S. 126 in the Highbridge section of The Bronx. At P.S. 126, Luis leads with a vision of equity, joy, and systemic change for multilingual learners and underserved communities.

Luis is also an adjunct professor of bilingual education at City College and Hunter College and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Association for Bilingual Education (NYSABE) and the Board of Trustees for Mott Hall Charter School. He is a distinguished member of the Hunter College Gray Fellowship for Principal Excellence and the nationally recognized Cahn Fellowship for Distinguished Principals.
