Sandra Lugo
INTERIM CHAIR

Sandra has been an educator for over 35 years. Growing up she attended the NYC public schools and worked in the NYC Department of Education as a Bilingual Special Education Teacher, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, Dual Language Coordinator, English Language Coordinator, Data Specialist, and Test Coordinator. She was an Adjunct Professor at NYU, a Language Resource Specialist with NYU Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network, Assistant Principal of Rosalyn Yalow Charter School and Principal of an Icahn Charter School.
Sandra holds a bachelor’s degree from Mercy University in Criminal Justice/Business Administration, a Master’s degree from Hofstra University in Education/Bilingual Education, a Master’s degree from Mercy University in School Building Leadership, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader Certification from NYU, Descubriendo La Lectura Teacher Leader Certification from Texas Woman's University, post-graduate coursework in education from various universities and holds multiple certifications/licenses from the NYS Department of Education.
With her extensive background in education she will be able to provide expertise in academic matters, strategic planning, and school operations and contribute to more effective governance practices to ensure Mott Hall Charter School meets its goals and fulfills its mission.
